Olympic Games Preview

FUTURE OLYMPIAN SAUCER SLED COMPETITION

In a preview of the 2026 Olympic Winter Games, the youth saucer sled competition was held today well outside Vancouver at the Chancellor Mountain venue. Due to Blizzard like conditions in the area only two junior athletes were able to attend day one of the competition. Their initial runs are shown below.

First up was Jacob Milne hailing from the capital city of the United States of America.

Jacob had a tremendous run maintaining his center of gravity while experiencing a little air right before the final chicane. With a time of 16:09, he set the bar high.

Second, and final, for the morning runs was Jacob's younger brother Zachary Milne also representing the USA and residing in the Washington DC area.

Zach was letting it all hang out from the start but giving up a few pounds on the competition he experienced a little more trouble navigating the faster speeds on the lower portion of the course. The final jump jolted him off the sled just enough to make facial contact with the side wall right before the finish, costing him precious tenths of a second and a chance of taking the lead. But a resilient competitor, he responded with "Awesome" and there is every expectation that he will be able to continue on in the competition.

So after the morning runs on day 1 here are the standings. Event organizers are hoping for a more robust competition for the coming runs provided transportation systems in the area can be restored soon.

1. JacobMilne (USA) 16.09

2. Zachary Milne (USA) 16.22 (.13)

3. Abigail Yoho (USA) DNS

4. Joshua Yoho (USA) DNS

5. Elizabeth Yoho (USA) DNS

6. Hannah Yoho (USA) DNS

7. James Yoho (USA) DNS

8. Silas Yoho (USA) DNS

Where do we get tickets for the upcoming events and for sure the finals-the USA has a very strong team from what we saw of the first runs. Loved the two extremely different strategies for attacking the course. Would've liked to seen the team's coach take a run on the course so that we good check out if he has any form or strategy at all- Love-Mom/Nana

Don't be fooled by Team Yoho's failure to appear on the course today. We don't like to waste our energy on the qualifying rounds. We'll be there at 10 tomorrow for the semi-finals!!

This is no three foot snow slide with an extended grade. I've got odds on at least one Yoho kid scratching right before their run for fear of doing something too dangerous. They'll be starting in the quarter final rounds, for which the Milne boys have earned a bye based on their stellar performance on day 1.

The Compton Family will be participating in the 2014 competition and we plan to dominate! We'll start training now on our ice and dirt covered hills.

I think you need to send these videos to The Weather Channel. They've had some pretty lame clips this weekend showing sleds with tightly wrapped kiddos being pulled by tired parents. I'm pretty sure you can win the prize for the best "front yard luge run". Love, Mom
