1) Jacob turned 7 this week! He loves sports (all of them), playing games and reading books. [CORRECTION: Jacob has very seriously advised me that he doesn't like all sports - he doesn't like curling.] And the Wii. Birthday celebrations have included a Nationals baseball game with his Daddy and brother, lunch with Mommy at school and brownies for his classmates, staying up late to play a family game of Power Grid, having Nana Hopper come up for a visit, and a Flag Football Birthday Bash with family, church family, and Cub Scout friends.
2) Zachary is nearing the end of kindergarten and is just as bright as his brother. I loved hearing this brag story from his teacher yesterday. They were reading a story of Pocahantas born in 1595. Zachary asks his reading group, "Would you like to know how long ago that was? 417 years!" OK, it was 418 - but he was doing this math in his head! He freely admits to his teacher that he's smart and actually smarter than his brother in "head math." He and Jacob are playing Little League baseball this year and he loves it. He frequently is found doing "air baseball" which is kind of like the "air guitar". Here he taking his final step onto home base and is actually getting ready to hop on it. Love that kid!
3) Lydia, who just turned 3, is just as assertive (bossy) as ever, but has added some charm and sweetness to her persona. She will sweetly hug me and tell me "I wub you, Mommy" or lately will ask me how I'm feeling. This is her trying to make her sister smile a the camera...
4) Eliza at almost 18 months is hilarious. She is a chatterbox, although nearly impossible to understand. Her most popular words include "rella" (Cinderella, also a synonym for all things princess", "shoe" and "milk". She loves to put on clothes, jackets, shoes, hats, etc... In this picture, I think she also has a purple head band on...
5) Do you see the theme here for this blog? Baby #5, who we call "Cinco" ("five" in Spanish) is now 36 weeks along and is a girl. Her due date is 5/23 - or any day now. We'll see! Cinco de Mayo (5/5) would be cool, or 5/24 (since we also have birthdays here on 3/24 and 4/24). Hopefully next week, I'll be able to post a "belly" shot. For now, please refer to the above picture to see how much she is making me grow! Someone asked me today if it was easier or harder to "get ready" for baby when it's your 5th. Umm, it's easier to accept that you're just not gonna ever "be ready". We are SOOO not ready for her arrival!
Thanks for your attention and we'll see you next Friday (I hope...)!
