Dean's Home for the Holidays!

Dean's ship pulled in last night and we welcomed him down on the pier! Well, actually the way it happens is you watch the ship sail in, maneuver itself very carefully along the pier, wait for a gazillion lines to be tied to the pier, try to figure out if you see your Coastie somewhere up there, get really excited if you do, then wait some more as they position the brow (the gangplank), and usually wait some more before finally your loved one comes down to the pier to greet you! So we waited in the van (because it was very cold out there) until we saw the other families head towards the brow and thought it was time to go on board. It wasn't quite the right time, but we only froze for a few minutes before Daddy came to get us. We waited in Dean's room and then in the Ward Room (where the Wii is) as he wrapped up his work. Finally we were able to take him off the ship! We stopped at Chili's for dinner, then on to our house! The boys were especially happy to have him home!

Today we have a family day planned, including buying/decorating a Christmas tree, and then Dean and I have a date night planned for tonight - yah, I found a babysitter! Thanks, Johanna!

Welcome home, Dean!!!! It was so good to hear your voice this morning and to hear Jacob say "Yes, he was glad to have his daddy home". We are counting the days until you are able to be at our house for Christmas. Love, Mom/Nana
