Coast Guard Wife

There's nothing else that makes me feel more like a Military Spouse than saying "Goodbye" to my husband. Dean left before the boys woke up this morning (Jacob has a hard time seeing his Daddy go bye-bye) and after a few tears on my part. He'll be gone for 60 days (or 2 months or 8 1/2 weeks, whatever you prefer). The hardest part for me is knowing that the boys will miss him so much and that he'll miss the boys that much more. So much happens in that time period for children...

Well, I had to stop crying even before he left, b/c the boys woke up! And off to work I went (as a mommy)! Jacob had a really hard day, alot of separation anxiety this morning - although not really crying about Daddy going to "work on the boat". Then he would not go to sleep at naptime - he got up about 5 times to play pool and once to climb into the top bunk and say "Help, Mommy" very calmly.

We had a water day today - mostly on the screen porch. Nana filled a plastic bin with water and toys and the boys played very happily as the thermometer approached 100 degrees in the shade on the porch. This evening Jacob and I went to our swim lesson while Zack stayed home and played golf with Nana (chased a ball around the house with a toy putter). I'm so proud of Jacob for doing everything in his swim lesson so well. He kicked and blew bubbles and jumped in - he even "almost" swam to me under water! (His teacher pushes him under the water toward me and usually momentum gets him to me, but he was wiggling and kicking - it was great!)

Thanks for all of your prayers for Dean and I and the boys while he's underway! We really appreciate them!

Yeah for Nana Hopper's sun porch!! We are off to the water park today to pass time after school. James keeps looking for Daddy too, but is usually content with Hippo instead. He really does not understand as well as Jacob what is going on. We will be praying for y'all (like my southern speak??)

The only thing that makes saying good-bye for those 60 days the least bit easy is the sweet reunion when the ship pulls in on that 60th day. You were in my prayers today when I woke up this morning knowing that God alone can fill the void that Dean's departure has left for you and the boys.

Hey Julie! I always think that the guys have it harder while they are away..We have the kids which keep us busy and keep us smiling :) We are praying for you all while he is away that you will have strength and endurance each day and that peace will just flow over you all!

The boys are adorable :) I am loving all the pictures!

Hey Jules! I hope I get to see you guys again this weekend! I know you all will miss Dean and he will miss you, but it's great that you have this blog now so he can have another way to keep up with what's happening at home. And that's great Jacob is doing so well at swimming. No surprises here, that boy has loved water since he was an infant!
