We had a good morning at church today. My parents are long-time members at Westminster Pres. Church in Rock Hill, SC, the church I grew up in. It is such a blessing to return to it for worship and listen to the Word of God preached there. Rev McCutcheon preached about "Serving in the Light of Eternity". A few things really popped out of that sermon today. 1) While I knew that we all have different God-given talents, I have never considered them to still belong to Him. He entrusts it to us to use and administer in a way that glorifies Him. 2) The Lord expects us to use our talents (and not anyone elses). 2 Cor 8:12, "For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not have." 3) How we respond to the receipt of our God-given talents (service, vs "do-nothing) exposes our vie
w of the Lord. I also was struck by one of his intro messages that it's not about filling volunteer spots in the church, it's about the reckoning when Christ returns. Who are you serving and why are you serving? Are you serving man or are you untimately serving God to bring him glory and not yourself? Do you volunteer so that your publicly recongnized as a do-gooder in the church or because your love for Christ so compels you to serve for Him. (This is not a jibe against recognizing folks who serve like we did today, b/c I think that can be used for a variety of reasons from the church, but I just want to more carefully examine our motivations as we serve.) So there's a little food for thought for all you readers out there!
The boys had the same nursery class today which i think they liked. We went out to lunch with all the Hopper clan (minus Dean, of course) and a few of the Needham clan. The rest of the day we just rested and played with the boys. Jacob is doing very well in his Big Boy Bed after a week now. Potty training is another issue, but his tummy has been a little upset for the past few days. I do have potty-training envy of Lacey and her 23 month old James (Jacob's cousin)!

Here's a picture of Zack playing pool with his cue stick (yes, it's a fishing pole). Aunt Sa-Sa has taught Jacob the difference between the cue ball, the stripes and the solids. So this afternoon, he brought the white ball to me saying, "Look Mama, Cue ball!" Oh brother, this pool table! What am I going to do with it?

Tina, Thanks for reading my long blog-post! Love you, too! Julie
Maybe James has been gifted with potty going??! :)
Tell Jacob that Auntie Lacey will take him on in pool when we get to the beach!! He'll beat me in a minute I am sure! (He'll have to start by teahcing me which one is the cue ball!)
So James is trying to serve his Mommy by reducing her diaper load... nice! What a sweetheart!
